Booneville Christmas Light Parade 2025

 

WE EXTEND A WARM INVITATION TO YOU AND/OR YOUR ORGANIZATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2025 BOONEVILLE CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE IN DOWNTOWN BOONEVILLE, KENTUCKY.

INFORMATION FOR PATICIPANTS:
Registration Deadline: December 12, 2025 at 4:00 PM
Parade Start Time: 7:00 PM​

  • Awards will be presented to the 1st thru 3rd place winners. This year, there will only be one division. Judging will be conducted 5:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. on the day of the parade during the line-up. Winners will be acknowledged as they pass the judges stand.

 

  • MONCIA BARRETT BEST CHRISTMAS SPIRIT AWARD!! This award will be an overall best Christmas Spirit award. 

PARADE RULES:

 

  • LIGHTS REQUIRED!! MORE IS BETTER!

 

  • No live Santa Clause or Mrs. Claus in the parade. Parade organizers will provide Santa and Mrs. Claus.

 

  • No Snow/Christmas King and/or Queen Court other than those crowned in the Booneville Snow Pageant sponsored pageant.

 

  • NO KITS.

 

  • Entries without Christmas themed decorations will require approval of parade organizers.   

 

  • All float riders must be dressed in attire related to Christmas theme chosen by entry.

 

  • Walkers accompanying entries must be dressed in holiday attire or a uniform (and/or lights).

 

  • Adult Supervision for all children participating under the age of 14 is required. Strongly encourage chaperons to dress in Christmas attire.

 

  • All entries must drive in a safe manner.

 

  • Drivers pulling floats must be at least 18 years old with valid driver’s license. Vehicle must be insured.

 

  • Drivers should allow 20 feet between floats (so community/citizens can enjoy each entry). Stop at stop sign to allow float in front of you to be announced.

 

  • ALL live animals must include clean up personnel or be diapered. Animal(s) must be well behaved. Rider(s) costume must be adorned/embellished with lights. Organization or Owner will assume responsibility for the behavior of animal(s).

 

  • No candy can be thrown from any entry during the parade due to safety issues of doing a night time parade. Walkers can hand out candy along the route.

 

  • ALL MUSIC MUST BE CHRISTMAS MUSIC UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE PARADE COMMITTEE.

 

  • Parade will still be held in the event of drizzle or snowflakes; however, in the event of heavy rain/snow/storms etc. Parade will be held December 15, 2023 @ 5:30.

 

  • Participates agree to allow the Booneville Christmas Light Parade Committee, and organizations assisting in organizing parade use of photographs and video taken during the Parade for purposes of promoting the Parade this year and future years.

Floats will be judge in the following areas:

 

  1. Design, special effects (lights, lights, lights).

  2. Creativity / Originality.

  3. Name of Organization visually displayed.

  4. Spirit and Personality (Smile, Wave, Cheer).

  5. Appropriate dress for group related to theme.

 

Entries will be judged in the following divisions:

 

  • Community/Business    

  • Church Groups 

  • Non-Traditional

  • School

 

Judging will be done by three (3) out of town Judges.

 

SIGN IN AND LINE-UP

 

WHEN: 

  • Floats being judged must arrive at the lineup location by 5:30 PM.

  • Non-judged floats must arrive by 6:15 PM.

 

WHERE" Participants will line up at Owsley County Elementary School parking lot, parade will follow traditional parade route; through Booneville to old highway 11 loop back through Booneville ending at Owsley Elementary School parking lot. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION.

PARADE PARTICIPATE AGREEMENT

WAIVER, INDEMNIFICATION AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

 

The undersigned Applicant has read, understands and agrees to the rules, terms and conditions under which he/she/it will be allowed to participate in the Light Up Booneville Christmas Light Parade, to be held December 13, 2025·and understands and is aware of all possible damage or loss from whatever causes that may arise from participating in the parade, and agrees to assume all risks in connection with participating in the parade.

In consideration for being allowed to participate in the parade, the undersigned agrees for himself, herself, itself, its officers, employees, volunteers, guests, agents, executors, administrators and assigns, to forever release, discharge, hold harmless, and waive any and all claims and causes of action of any nature or kind whatever against the City of Booneville Light Up Booneville Christmas Committee, it's members, volunteers  and officers and the City of Booneville, its employees, officials, officers and agents, for any and all claims, liabilities, damages, costs, expenses (including attorney's fees), demands, or causes or rights of action of whatever kind or name either in law or in equity caused by any accident or incident occurring  as a  result of, or arise from, undersigned's and/or his/her/its partners, employees,  agents,  volunteers  and  guests participation in the parade.

Undersigned agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of Booneville Light Up Booneville Christmas Committee, it's members, volunteers and  officers and the City of Booneville its employees, officials, officers and agents from and against any and all liabilities, claims, damages, costs, expenses (including attorney's fees), demands, actions or rights of action of whatever kind or name either in law or equity, brought or caused by the  undersigned,  its  officers,  employees, volunteers, guests, agents, his/her family, heirs, assigns and any other party, related to or arising from undersigned's participation in the parade or related to or arising from parade activities.

Undersigned further agrees to  indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of Booneville Light Up Booneville Christmas Committee; it's members, volunteers  and  officers and the City of Booneville; its employees, officials, officers and agents from and against any and all liabilities, claims, damages, costs, expenses (including attorney's fees), demands, actions or rights of action of whatever kind or name either in law or equity, brought by third parties related to or arising from Undersigned's participation in the Light Up Booneville Christmas Light Parade.               (initial) (Online signature will suffice as intialled acknowledgement)

The undersigned further acknowledges that he/she/it shall inspect his/her/its group's floats, vehicles and any and all other types of machinery and equipment prior to their usage and ensure that said floats, vehicles and any and all other types of machinery and equipment are neat, clean, safe, satisfactory for his/her/its use and purposes, and in a good state of repair, and that there are no problems with the equipment and/or defects with the materials posing threat of injury of any kind to any volunteers, employees, agents and/or guests of the undersigned, or to any third parties. Should the undersigned find that the floats, vehicles, machinery and/or equipment contain any problems and/or defects, he/she/it shall notify a member of the Festival staff immediately and shall not permit himself/herself/itself or any of his/her/its employees, volunteers, agents and/or guests to utilize said floats, vehicles, machinery, equipment or property until all problems and/or defects are remedied and/or eliminated.

The undersigned further attests that he/she is at least eighteen years of age, and represents  and certifies that  he/she  has been duly authorized to sign this agreement on behalf of his/her organization and that all actions necessary to so authorize the undersigned have been taken.

I have read this application for the Light Up Booneville Christmas Light Parade   and the accompanying information. I hereby agree that if I or my organization is accepted for participation, I/we will abide by all Light Up Booneville Committee

rules, regulations and requirements. I understand that failure to do so will result in disqualification from participation in Light Up Booneville Christmas Light Parade. I/we agree to abide by all rules and directions of the parade committee, and the undersigned acknowledges that I/we will safely participate in any parade activity, including the distribution of candy or other items along the parade route.
