The Booneville (Seale) Theater Project - a subgroup of Owsley County Alliance for Recreation and Entertainment Incorporated (OCARE) is submitting a Brownfields Cleanup Grant Application to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to conduct cleanup activities at the old Booneville (Seale) Theater at 165 Mulberry Street, Booneville (Owsley County), KY 41314. Brownfields are real property where any instances of hazardous and harmful materials such as lead, petroleum, asbestos, etc., can affect the reuse and redevelopment of that property. The grant amount requested is a total of $305,844. If funded, the grant will be used for cleanup and abatement of asbestos containing materials, lead, mold and community outreach projects. This notice is to inform the community of the preparation of the grant application and the Draft ABCA. The Board of OCARE will be presenting the grant application and Draft ABCA to the monthly public meeting of the Owsley County Action Team (OCAT) on October 15, 2020 at 5:30 PM. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, this meeting is an online Zoom event. This meeting is open to the public and the link to the meeting can be found at the bottom of this announcement. The Draft ABCA will be available for review and public comment from October 15 – October 26 at the Owsley County Action Team (66 Old Hwy 11 N Booneville, KY 41314. Due to COVID 19, we ask that all visitors interested in viewing the grant application and proposal in person at the Owsley County Action Team, to practice safe social distancing protocols as well as submit to a temperature check and wear a mask upon entry of the building. Also upon request, a copy of the grant and the Draft ABCA can also be emailed to any interested party who is unable to attend the public meeting, or unable to come to the Owsley County Action Team.
